Chapter 118 : Once Said is Said

Words have the power to brighten someone’s day or completely ruin it. They can uplift a person or leave them in sorrow. That’s why we must be mindful of every word we speak. Unfortunately, I learned this lesson the hard way.

One afternoon, my friend and I went to the stalls to grab something to eat. As we arrived, I saw her talking to someone she hadn’t been on good terms with for a while. Without thinking much, I blurted out, “You guys started talking again? Wow!” My voice was louder than I had intended, and the impact was immediate. Both of their smiles faded, and an awkward silence settled between us. It was then that I realized they weren’t exactly friends again; they were merely being polite to each other.

Guilt settled in as I watched them exchange glances, clearly uncomfortable. My words had unintentionally exposed a fragile situation, possibly making things worse instead of better. I wanted to take back what I said, to clarify that I didn’t mean any harm, but the damage had already been done.

That incident made me reflect on how easy it is to hurt someone with words, even without intending to. We often speak without considering how our words might be received, assuming they carry the same harmless intent with which we say them. But words, once spoken, cannot be taken back.

From that day on, I became more conscious of how I phrase my thoughts. I learned that sometimes, silence is better than saying something thoughtlessly. A simple remark, even if unintentional, can hold the power to shift someone’s emotions or even relationships. And so, I remind myself: Speak with care, because words linger long after they are spoken.

I am back after a break :)♡

Chapter 1: Embracing Self Awareness

Let me begin my first blog with a quote, " Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom"- Aristotle I am Alena, I am a normal girl with ordinary talents. If that is the way I introduce myself, what makes me different and what makes me unique?  Most of the people including myself, become insecure and shy away from challenges life has in store because of not being self-aware of their potential. Self awareness plays a major role in personal growth and well being of a person. We need to understand and keep track of our strengths and weaknesses. Our strength could end up turning into our weakness and our weakness could end up being our strength later. An example from my life: In school, I had a hard time making friends which I considered as a flaw, In college I don't find that as an issue which ends up being my strength. I remember starting a personal diary to jot down my emotions and instead of writing what I truly felt, I wrote as if somebody would read it. That is not th...

Book review - Red Verses.

This is a personal book review of Red Verses by Pearlina Gracelyn. Pearlina is my best friend, but did I truly know how deep her thoughts ran? No. While reading this book, it felt as if I was not just turning the pages but unveiling the chapters of her life. It’s raw, real, and straight from her heart, something you can feel with every word. The words are beautifully yet simply crafted, resonating deeply with the reader. This is not just a collection of poems but an outpouring of emotions printed onto paper. I could sense how much courage and vulnerability it must have taken for her to write these pieces, and that makes the book even more profound. I don’t know if it was mere coincidence, but I truly loved how the poem "My Wedding Day" ended with the verse "As husband and wife." That single line, placed on a separate page, made it so much more impactful. The simplicity of dedicating one page to such a significant line brought out the true essence of the poem’s subje...
